Pass the 11+ exam with flying colours!
Competition for places at top independent and grammar schools is tough – and is getting more challenging every year.
If you are considering entering your child for the exam, it is useful to be aware that there is a fair bit of work involved in preparation for the exam and it is natural for children to feel overwhelmed.
We focus on the critical factors for success:
- We help build a solid knowledge and grasp of the key concepts in Maths and English
- Provide an understanding of what examiners are looking for and how to structure an answer
- Build our students confidence and self-belief
Why study for the 11+ with Peepal Tree Learning?
- Carefully structured after-school tuition classes – usually in 2hr blocks
- Highly experienced and friendly tutors who adapt to different learning styles – no ‘one-size-fits-all’.
- Development of cognitive thinking improving analytical skills – essential to passing the exam!
- Past practice papers and exam technique – how to structure an answer
- 1:1 and group lessons available – as much or as little as your child needs
“The tutors are knowledgeable, friendly, and provide constructive feedback, helping my son improve his skills immeasurably. I can’t thank you all enough for your help!” – Portia Agulay
How does it work?
-
- Students usually join us in Year 4, but it is not unheard of to see children in Year 5, so do not feel as if you are too late.
- Carefully structured after-school tuition classes help your son or daughter get to grips with the 11-plus curriculum, letting them learn at their own pace and supporting them to feel confident about taking the exam.
(Our online group classes run for 2 hours once a week and students practice both English and Mathematics. If your child works better on a 1:1 basis, that is fine – Please get in touch.)
- A typical class might include looking at past papers, exploring techniques required to answer different question styles, and helping students develop effective study skills.
We create and follow our own curriculum, covering topics such as but not limited to:
- Numeracy
- Speed / Distance / Time
- Ratio Proportion
- Algebra
- Geometry
- Statistics
- Word Problems
- SPAG
- Creative Writing techniques
- Comprehension
- Descriptive / Persuasive writing
Our results over the years have seen our students secure places at various top schools across Surrey.
What can parents do to support during the process?
- Encourage your child to read widely so they develop a great vocabulary
- Work through sample papers – these are readily available online
- Visit museums, art galleries, concerts, plays, sporting events and so on – anything that helps your child enjoy learning will help.
- Make time to have fun! Passing the 11-plus is important, but children need to relax and enjoy themselves too.
